On Sunday, October 13, The Friends of Reading Hospital will host the annual Reading Hospital Road Run Half Marathon, 5k, and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. The start and finish of the 2019 race course will move back to the Reading Hospital area. All race participants will enjoy fast and runner-friendly courses down the tree-lined streets of West Reading and Wyomissing, with the half marathon passing additional highlights throughout Greater Reading. Registration is open and there is a discounted rate available through Sunday, July 14. The event is once again sponsored by Diamond Credit Union.

"The Friends of Reading Hospital are excited to bring the annual Reading Hospital Road Run back to West Reading," said Beth Auman, 2019 Reading Hospital Road Run Chair and The Friends of Reading Hospital Board Member. "We designed a course that runners and spectators will enjoy."

Participants are encouraged to sign up early to take advantage of lower registration costs and to ensure they receive a race shirt. The race will feature instant result timing and live music on the course. In addition, all 5K and half marathon participants will receive high-tech wicking shirts when they register. All half marathon finishers will receive a finisher's medal, and cash prizes will be given to the top three male and female finishers of the half marathon and the 5K. Additional prizes will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and team division of both races.

"The Friends of Reading Hospital have been an important part of the Reading Hospital team for more than 130 years," said William M. Jennings, Reading Hospital President and CEO. "We appreciate the support Road Run will provide to fund HeartSAFE Berks County."
