Congratulations to Christopher Butts, PhD, DO, FACOS, FACS, for his publication selected as Editors Pick, Emergency General Surgery, March Edition of the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery.
His featured study, "A core outcome set for appendicitis: A consensus approach utilizing modified Delphi methodology," was designed to address the heterogenicity issue that exist in acute appendicitis studies in terms of treatment modalities and outcomes by developing a core outcomes set based on the expert consensus. This study has significant impact on how future cohort-based appendicitis studies or trials should be designed to allow for better standardization and more accurate comparisons when performing future data comparison and metanalyses.
Dr. Butts is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine, and Program Director of Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Reading Hospital. He also serves as Medical Director, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Division of Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care at Reading Hospital.
