Reading Hospital and Tower Health Medical Group now support Health Records on iPhone, which brings together hospitals, clinics and the existing Apple Health app to make it easy for patients to see their available medical data from multiple providers whenever they choose.

"Reading Hospital is committed to advancing the health and wellness of the communities we serve. The integration of MyChart and Health Records on iPhone provides another opportunity for individuals to easily access their health information and allows them to be an active participant on their healthcare team," said Michelle Trupp, Tower Health Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

Now, patients will have medical information from any participating institution organized into one view, covering allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, procedures and vitals, and will receive notifications when their data is updated. Patients authenticate using their MyChart patient portal credentials to directly download their available Health Records onto their iPhone. Health Records data is encrypted and protected with the user's iPhone passcode, Touch ID or Face ID.

Apple worked with the healthcare community to take a consumer-friendly approach and created Health Records based on FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), a standard for transferring electronic medical records.
