Guido Pichini named to Reading Hospital Board of Trustees

Reading Hospital announced that Guido Pichini has been named to the Board of Trustees beginning January 1, 2023, for a three-year term. The Reading Hospital Board of Trustees is composed of dedicated community members responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the hospital's strategic plans while maintaining high-quality, cost-effective healthcare.

Mr. Pichini is a retired businessman, community leader, and philanthropist. He served as President/CEO of Security Guards, Inc., and WSK and Associates. He served two terms as a councilman in the Borough of Wyomissing Hills; and four terms as Mayor. He has also served as a municipal police sergeant, as a Berks County detective, has taught criminal law, and guest lectured at various colleges and universities.

Mr. Pichini was born and raised in Reading, graduated from Reading High School, and received a Bachelor of Science and Graduate degree from Kutztown University. He received a minor judiciary certification from Wilson College and has been awarded two honorary doctorate degrees, one from Kutztown University and another from Millersville University.

When asked why he chose to join the Reading Hospital Board, Mr. Pichini said, “Giving back to the community is something I’ve always been passionate about and prioritized in my career. Working with the Reading Hospital Board of Trustees will allow me to be part of an organization that has provided the highest quality healthcare to our community for more than 150 years.” 

“As a native of Berks County, Mr. Pichini is a wonderful addition to our Board,” said Charles F. Barbera, MD, Reading Hospital President and CEO and member of the Board of Trustees. “His knowledge of our region and extensive board experience will be an asset to our patients, team members, and community.” 

Mr. Pichini has been appointed by five Pennsylvania Governors to various state positions including; 27 years of service as a trustee at Kutztown University, the State Workforce Investment Board, and the Post-Secondary Education Commission. Additionally, he served 12 years on the PA State System of Higher Education Board, and as Chair for five years. He was named Chairman Emeritus in 2016. Mr. Pichini has been honored to receive two US Presidential appointments, most recently serving on the White House Commission for Presidential Scholars.
