Reading Hospital has appointed Brian Lahmann, MD, MHA, FACEP, as Chair, Department of Emergency Medicine for Reading Hospital, effective February 3, 2020. In this role, Dr. Lahmann will be responsible sustaining the Department's enormous volumes while focusing on operational and fiscal efficiencies, recruitment and engagement of physicians, and commitment to educational training.
Dr. Lahmann has been a physician in the Reading Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine since 2009 and has served as its Vice Chair since July 2019. He currently provides administrative leadership for the department, while also actively seeing patients clinically and teaching residents and medical students. Throughout his tenure, Dr. Lahmann has served on various leadership teams and committees working to continually improve our ED operations, clinical services, quality, and teaching programs. Dr. Lahmann also serves as the Medical Director for Southern Berks Regional EMS, and the Birdsboro-Union Fire Department and Geigertown Fire Company QRS Units. Prior to pursuing his medical career, Dr. Lahmann worked in healthcare administration for University of Pennsylvania Health System and Frankford Hospital, including roles such as Corporate Director, Medical Affairs and Graduate Medical Education and Assistant to the Medical Director, respectively.
Dr. Lahmann is board certified in Emergency Medicine and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Emergency Physicians, American Academy of Emergency Medicine, and Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, among others. He was recently appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine for Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ, serving as Chief Resident for his last year. Dr. Lahmann received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine, his Master's of Hospital and Health Administration, as well as his, bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH.
