Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing hosted its 10th Annual Amputee Golf Outing, sponsored by The Amputee Support Group, on Tuesday, June 6, at Sittler’s Golf.
The outing was open to all individuals, enabled and disabled. Adam Benza from the Eastern Amputee Golf Association, and Rick Kline, Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA), and Owner of Sittler’s Golf, led the event. Adam Benza and Rick Kline demonstrated adaptive golf equipment before leading the group onto the course to practice hitting balls. The outing was free for participants with disabilities and their families.
Dr. Kelley Crozier, MD, Chair, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, said, “This is a great event to demonstrate that an amputation doesn’t need to hold one back from doing the activities they love the most. Every year, this is one of our most requested events by our Amputee Support Group. We love to introduce all of our patients to adaptive sports to help encourage them to stay active while having fun.”
