Reading Hospital is pleased to announce that the Reading Hospital SurgiCenter at Spring Ridge has been named a 2019 Guardian of Excellence Award® winner by Press Ganey. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing health care organizations that have achieved the 95th percentile or above for performance in Patient Experience.

The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally-recognized symbol of achievement in health care. Presented annually, the award honors clients who consistently sustained performance in the top 5% of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period during the course of one year.

The Reading Hospital SurgiCenter at Spring Ridge earned this award through an ongoing effort to consistently improve patient satisfaction scores. One recent initiative targets a discharge phone call to all patients. This creates an opportunity for patients to address any questions or concerns they might have following discharge and provide feedback to staff.

In a statement, Patrick T. Ryan, Executive Chairman of Press Ganey congratulated the Reading Hospital SurgiCenter at Spring Ridge. "This honor reflects their unwavering commitment to improving the safety, quality, and experience of care. Their hard work and dedication are inspiring, and we are proud to partner with them on our shared mission to reduce patient suffering."

According to William M. Jennings, President and CEO at Reading Hospital, the award represents an important recognition from the industry's leader in measuring, understanding, and improving the delivery of care. "Our team members strive to exceed the expectations of our patients every day," Mr. Jennings said. "This prestigious recognition from Press Ganey acknowledges our commitment to providing high quality care and an excellent patient experience, all with the goal of Advancing Health and Transforming Lives."
