Reading Hospital has many events throughout the year. One I always look forward to is the Reading Hospital Road Run. Every year, I enjoy seeing our community come together to share in a healthy activity while supporting one of our many lifesaving programs at the hospital. The feeling is unlike any other.

This year, the Reading Hospital Road Run will return to our neighborhood on Sunday, October 20, with more than just a beautiful run through West Reading, PA.

Whether you are a seasoned runner or simply looking to enjoy a walk with family and friends, The Friends of Reading Hospital, with support from the Reading Hospital Foundation, have poured their hearts into the event to ensure there is truly something for everyone, including a 10K (6.2 miles), 5K (3.1 miles), and a free Fun Run (approximately one mile) to support Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing

Community is one of the greatest and most valuable resources in life. Our hospital strives to nurture our relationships with the community by continually providing high-quality, equitable care to all those who need it. Our responsibility is not only to treat and heal our community but also to educate and provide resources. The Reading Hospital Road Run allows us to do that in a particularly special way.

Attendees are encouraged to visit one of the many resource tents that will be available at the Reading Hospital Road Run, including a Teddy Bear Clinic hosted by TowerDIRECT, a dynamic stretching station presented by Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing, and 'Stop the Bleed' information provided by Reading Hospital’s Trauma Center, among others. Each booth will offer something unique, so I encourage participants to visit as many booths as possible!

Walking is one of my favorite activities, especially on Reading Hospital’s campus. I am excited to share this activity with our community every year. I would be remiss not to mention our exceptional grounds crew who maintain our campus throughout the year to ensure that our hospital outwardly reflects the kindness and welcoming spirit of the people inside it. We have even re-positioned the starting line at the iconic 6th Avenue Clock Tower Entrance to showcase their incredible work.

Having been with Reading Hospital for 28 years, I understand its significance as a beacon of hope and healing for our community. Only through your generosity, can we continue to advance this legacy - supporting events like the Reading Hospital Road Run, and fostering programs to meet the needs of all who seek care at our facilities.

All proceeds from this year’s Reading Hospital Road Run will benefit Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing, which provides therapy and various programs for those who have experienced functional loss or disability following an accident, illness, or injury.
