What is Tower Health Doing to Ensure Patient Safety?

In our hospitals, physician offices, urgent care centers, and all other clinical areas, Tower Health has implemented changes to processes and procedures that meet or exceed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Department of Health (DOH) policies and aim to keep our patients, staff, and visitors healthy. These changes include:

Virtual Care
Virtual Care may be used to see your Tower Health Medical Group physicians or St. Christopher’s Pediatric Specialist for scheduled virtual visits, as well as Tower Health Urgent Care physicians and Advanced Practice Providers for on-demand care. With virtual care services available 24/7/365, we provide patients secure and convenient access to care – from anywhere – through their mobile device, tablet, or computer. Learn more about Virtual Care.
COVID-19 Screenings for Caregivers and Patients
All healthcare providers continue to be screened for COVID-19 symptoms prior to the start of each shift. All patients are screened for COVID-19 prior to their surgery, procedure, or office visit. If symptoms are present, the encounter will be canceled, and the patient will be referred to their primary care physician or Urgent Care facility for follow-up.
Easier Scheduling
Online laboratory and radiology scheduling are available at select locations via MyTowerHealth.
Robotic Ultraviolet Light Disinfection
Tower Health Hospitals are among only a few in the region using this process designed specifically for hospitals. The robot delivers a fast, continuous dose of ultraviolet energy killing germs and pathogens from floor to ceiling. This process uniquely positions our hospitals to provide one of the safest environments possible. To learn more about this technology, go to Finsen Tech Thor UVC.
Valet Parking
All Valet Parking services are currently closed to limit COVID-19 exposure. Our garages, outdoor parking, drop-offs, and shuttle services are still available.
Rigorous Cleaning and Disinfecting Protocols
Outpatient facilities, physician offices, and other public areas undergo rigorous cleaning and disinfecting several times per day, in accordance with CDC and DOH infection control guidelines. Operating rooms are thoroughly cleaned after each case. Air exchanges are continuously monitored during surgical procedures.
Face Masks

The CDC announced that individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19 do not need to wear a mask outside or indoors, except under certain circumstances. The PA DOH has revised State guidelines to follow the CDC recommendations.

Hospitals and healthcare settings remain as one of the settings in which the CDC and PA DOH require masks to be worn. Tower Health will continue its current policies requiring all employees, medical staff, and visitors to wear masks in inside all our facilities, including all clinical and non-clinical areas such as hallways, dining areas, and common spaces.

Our priority is to protect the health and safety of our patients and team members, so in addition to requiring masks, we will also continue to check temperatures of everyone as they enter our facilities.

Enhanced Social Distancing
We maximize physical distancing in waiting rooms and patient care areas. In addition, surgery times are staggered to ensure social distancing.
