Reading Hospital announced today that it has been named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for 2025, according to new research released by Healthgrades, the #1 site Americans use when searching for a doctor or hospital.
As a result of its consistently superior patient care, Reading Hospital has attained the highest achievement Healthgrades offers, placing the organization in the top 1% of U.S. hospitals for overall care excellence. Reading Hospital has received the America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award™ for four consecutive years (2022-2025).
In addition to earning a top honor for overall clinical care, Reading Hospital also received accolades for outstanding performance in key service areas, including Outpatient Joint Replacement, Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery, Stroke Care, and Neurosciences. These achievements further underscore the organization’s dedication to exceptional patient care, placing Reading Hospital among the upper echelon of hospitals nationwide.
“I am continually inspired by the hard work and dedication of my colleagues,” said Dr. Charles F. Barbera, president and CEO of Reading Hospital. “As an organization we will continue to invest in our team members, technology, and refining our clinical processes for our patients, their families and our community.”
Reading Hospital’s achievements are based exclusively on what matters most: patient outcomes. To determine the top hospitals for 2025, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for more than 30 of the most common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide. Healthgrades’ annual analysis revealed significant performance gaps between the nation’s highest- and lowest-achieving hospitals, making it increasingly important to seek care at a top-rated facility. In fact, from 2021-2023, patients treated at one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals had a 24.2% lower risk of dying than if they were treated at hospitals that did not receive the award.
“As one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals, Reading Hospital is elevating the standard for quality care nationwide,” said Brad Bowman, MD, chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades. “Healthgrades commends Reading Hospital for their leadership and ongoing commitment to providing the best possible care for all patients in Pennsylvania.”
