Tower Health announced today that Douglas Tieman joined the Tower Health Board of Directors effective November 15, 2022, for a three-year term.
Mr. Tieman has worked 40 years in the substance use disorder treatment field and currently serves as Special Advisor to the CEO and President Emeritus to the Board at Caron Treatment Centers. Prior to this role, he served as President and CEO of Caron for more than 26 years. Under his leadership, Caron developed a full continuum of care for substance abuse treatment for teens, young adults, adults, older adults, and their families. In addition, Caron elevated its leadership in sponsoring research in substance use disorder treatments and outcomes, advocating for ethics and standards, and participating in national conferences on substance use disorder and recovery. In 2021 Caron established the “Fran and Doug Tieman Center for Research” to conduct cutting-edge research related to the understanding, prevention, and treatment of substance use disorder.

Mr. Tieman holds an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Concordia University and completed the Minnesota Management Institute at the University of Minnesota. He also received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northwood University in Midland, MI, and a bachelor’s degree in Social Science Composite from Concordia University in Seward, NE.
Mr. Tieman added, “I look forward to working with the Board of Directors so we can continue to strengthen the health system and ensure our communities have access to our wonderful network of physicians and providers.”
