Healthgrades Specialty Excellence Awards recognize the top 10 percent of hospitals across the country in 17 specialty care areas. A Five-Star Rating mirrors a hospital’s commitment to delivering better-than-expected clinical outcomes. These achievements reflect Tower Health’s outstanding clinical outcomes and distinguish our hospitals as among the nation’s leading hospitals in these clinical areas.
"I’m proud of our team members for the recognitions they received from Healthgrades," said P. Sue Perrotty. "Their commitment to our patients and communities never wavers and I commend them for their constant dedication to excellence."
Healthgrades evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 31 of the most common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals across the country to identify the top-performing hospitals for specialty care. This year’s analysis revealed significant variation in patient outcomes between hospitals with a 2023 Healthgrades Clinical Outcomes Achievement and hospitals that did not receive an award. For example, from 2019-2021, patients treated at hospitals receiving the America's 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement Award have, on average, a 65.6 percent lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.* Similarly, patients treated at hospitals receiving the Pulmonary Care Specialty Excellence Award have, on average, a 53 percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.*
"We commend the Tower Health hospitals for their ongoing commitment to providing high-quality care to patients," said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Data Science at Healthgrades. "Consumers can feel confident that recipients of Healthgrades 2023 achievements have demonstrated their ability to deliver consistently exceptional outcomes."
