Barbara Zuppa, MSN, RN, has been named Vice President, Nursing Operations, Outcomes, and Analytics for Tower Health effective June 22, 2020.
In this role, Ms. Zuppa will assist the Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer in planning, administering, and directing nursing strategy and activities across all Tower Health entities to achieve operational, quality, and workforce outcome excellence. She will provide system leadership and oversight for operating and capital expenditures, workforce optimization and FTE resource management, operations and productivity data management and analytics. In addition, she will lead system initiatives for improving quality outcome data benchmarking, analytics and reporting; achievement of Magnet and Pathway designations; and leveraging technology platforms to support operations, workforce optimization, and quality improvement.
Ms. Zuppa is a seasoned nurse executive with more than 20 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, previously serving in the role of Tower Health Associate Vice President of Nursing Professional Practice. In her role, she worked closely with Tower Health nurse executives to develop and implement nursing strategic planning to align with and support Tower Health strategic priorities; established a standardized system strategy for quality outcome benchmarking, reporting, and analytics; provided system oversight and direction for nurse workforce engagement and retention; optimized nurse staffing benchmarking; led care delivery system redesign; provided system direction for career advancement and recognition programs; and directed Reading Hospital's successful journey to Magnet designation.
Ms. Zuppa earned her bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and Master of Science degree in Nursing from Alvernia University. She has served as adjunct faculty instructor at Alvernia University, and in 2019, was a Nightingale of Pennsylvania finalist in the category of Nurse Executive.
