  • Negative pressure room: This room is equipped with specially designed airflow systems to accommodate patients with contagious illnesses and minimize the potential for cross-contamination.
  • Specialized cardiac room: Dual-head walls with suction and oxygen offer twice the support technology of other ED rooms for cardiac patients. The hospital's cardiac program features a Heart Station – one of the area's most comprehensive diagnostic cardiology programs – with convenient scheduling and 24-hour report turnaround, two cardiac catheterization labs, and access to leading cardiothoracic surgeons from the University of Pennsylvania through a partnership between the hospital and the university.
  • Advanced communication and technology: EMS staff in the field can transmit EKG and other patient information to the hospital straight from an accident site or ambulance, allowing for advance cardiac preparation at the ED and quicker treatment for the patient. In addition to advanced diagnostic equipment, the hospital now offers therapeutic hypothermia treatment for patients suffering sudden cardiac arrests.
