Helping you live life to the fullest.
Through physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and recreation therapy, rehabilitation for movement and neurological disorders is designed to improve your overall well-being.
Whether you need inpatient or outpatient therapy, our specialists can help. We work with patients who experience:
- Stroke
- Traumatic brain injury
- Spinal cord injury
- Complex surgery
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Dementia
- Other neurological conditions
Comprehensive rehabilitation therapy
Not all neurological conditions need the same therapies to get the most out of daily life, so our treatment is individualized for your needs. Our team of specially-trained therapists and support staff work with you and your family every step of the way. Our therapies include:
- Physical therapy for mobility, muscle strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination
- Occupational therapy for activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and other life skills
- Speech therapy for self-expression, swallowing, and cognitive function
- Recreation therapy for social, cognitive, and leisure skills
Parkinson’s Rehabilitation
Through specialized rehabilitation therapy and voice training, therapists can help retrain your brain to “go big” and “get loud.” Our therapists use the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) Loud and Big to improve movement, speech, and swallowing for people living with Parkinson’s Disease.
Parkinson’s disease can challenge your perception of how you move and talk. Loud and Big therapy helps retrain your brain to think big when walking or moving and speak loudly when talking. By training your brain to think differently, you can improve function, speech, and swallowing.
LSVT Loud and Big therapy is an intensive outpatient treatment plan that can then be used at home to see continued improvement. Studies have shown that patients with Parkinson’s disease at any stage can benefit from intensive rehabilitation. LSVT Big and Loud therapy is especially effective soon after the disease is diagnosed.
Brain Injury Program
Traumatic brain injury can be caused by a traumatic accident, stroke, lack of oxygen, or a bleed on the brain. The injury or damage to the brain will cause different symptoms in every patient.
At Tower Health facilities, we have an inpatient brain injury program at Reading Hospital Rehabilitation in Wyomissing. The inpatient program brings together a team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, and neurointerventionalists to evaluate and treat your complex condition. We also provide intensive outpatient neurorehabilitation to help you continue to make improvements and restore your quality of life.
Stroke Rehabilitation
When you or your loved one has a stroke, rehabilitation begins immediately. Our team of specialists begin therapy at your hospital bedside. As you get stronger and are discharged from the hospital, we begin outpatient rehabilitation to help you gain strength, improve function, including eating, swallowing, communicating, and cognitive skills. We also connect you with others that have had a stroke through our stroke support group so that you have the support of the entire community.
