We have an active inpatient and outpatient asthma team as well as a technology dependent program. We also have a multidisciplinary Sickle Cell Disease Pulmonary Hypertension Working Group with several active research studies. We have a pulmonary function laboratory with the ability to do spirometry, complete lung volumes, exercise testing, sweat testing and cold air challenges. We also perform combined cardiopulmonary testing with cardiology.

We have a flexible bronchoscopy program with a complete range of fiberoptic and microchip scopes. Flexible bronchoscopy can be performed in the dedicated endoscopy suite or anywhere in the hospital with a separate travel cart.

We have a busy inpatient service that is responsible for pulmonology patients admitted to the regular nursing floors. We have daily rounds with our inpatient resident team and are active teachers with other teams. Our inpatient team also consults for medical/surgical teams, the neonatal intensive care service and the critical care service. The neonatal intensive care unit has 30 beds with a dedicated staff of neonatologists. The hospital's critical care service manages and directs the care of patients in the 8-bed pediatric intensive care unit, 8-bed cardiac intensive care unit, and the 18-bed special care/burn unit. Our hospital is a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center with a busy surgical service. Consults are co-managed with 24/7 in-house pediatric intensivists.

Our section has an active outpatient service with a wide variety of pulmonary diseases. These patients are managed with assistance from nursing, dietary services, social work and respiratory therapy.
