The Culture and Belonging rotation at Tower Health offers participants an opportunity to gain a deep, actionable understanding of practices around culture and belonging within healthcare and beyond. This program is designed to support Tower Health’s ongoing initiatives and to help identify areas for improvement in culture and belonging, health equity, and community engagement. Participants will also acquire tools to assess and improve these areas, positioning themselves as future leaders in the pursuit of health equity.

Throughout the elective, you will develop the skills and knowledge to serve as a champion in culture and belonging within Tower Health and beyond, supporting or even leading efforts to create and implement curricula. The program is ideal for those who are passionate about advancing health equity, addressing social determinants of health (SDOH), and fostering inclusive community engagement.

Eligibility

  • PGY-2 and above residents and fellows
  • Must be in good academic standing

Faculty

Program Deliverables

As part of the elective, you will engage in a range of impactful activities and deliverables, including:

  • Development of an educational curriculum
  • Creation and delivery of a presentation on the "Let's Talk" initiative
  • Contribution to a conference poster and potential publication
  • Participation in community fairs and health equity initiatives
  • Engagement in SDOH (Social Determinants of Health) screenings to enhance community outreach and care

Evaluation

A formal evaluation will be provided at the end of the elective rotation. The evaluation will be entered into New Innovations for tracking and feedback.

This elective offers a unique and transformative opportunity for healthcare professionals to not only enrich their understanding of culture and belonging, but also to actively contribute to meaningful change in healthcare practice and policy.
